An ordinary Tuesday morning Before they struck without warning And no one has laid any claim But we’ll find them, just the same For the first time in my life The skies are empty Silence, in the wake of tragedy The skies may be empty, but not the air Filled with shock, awe, pain, anger, and despair But also with heroism and patriotism The unification of our nation, under God We’ve lost many; a brother, sister, mother father, son, daughter, or friend But we will see this through to the end Though wrong, I long for some retribution And an upholding of our constitution As a million emotions flow freely With the loss of so many I thank God for his precious gift of life And vow to live my time to its fullest Because you never know When you will be called home I pray for those now left behind Be they friend or foe For we know not God’s design Yet we know He’s in control
