Editor's Introduction
Nineteenth (Three-Year Anniversary) Issue
December 21 (2003)-February 21 (2004)

During the course of recording tracks for an upcoming CD release, I realized that we had an anniversary looming. The Pedestal Magazine, three years old (by the way, that's sixteen in human years)! It's been amazing to watch this project teethe, learn to walk, speak, develop a personality of its own. Now all it wants is to borrow the car keys!

Our featured writer this time around is Alan Dugan, who passed away on September 3. We're glad to be featuring three Lowe Gallery Artists-- Harry Paul Ally, Lita Cabellut, and Maggie Hasbrouck. We've got poetry by Tammy Armstrong, Rane Arroyo, Bruce Boston, Janet Buck, Alan Catlin, Ruth Daigon, Molly Herrick, K.A. McGowan, Ben Passikoff, Simon Perchik, Sonia Pereira, Rochelle Ratner, Barry Spacks, Donna Spector, and Susan Terris; a short story by Nathan Leslie; and three articles related to Alan Dugan's work (by William Neumire, Lindsay Sloan, and Daniel James Wood). In addition, William Neumire reviews Sandra Kohler's The Ceremonies of Longing; Terri Brown-Davidson reviews Rochelle Mass's The Startled Land; Kathy Vogeltanz reviews Collin Kelley's Better to Travel; Barbara Hantman reviews Juanita Torrence Thompson's Celebrating a Tapestry of Life; and Bernadette Geyer reviews Michael Ladanyi's Spelling Crows of Winter.

Please feel free to visit our gallery, including new work by Amy Bouse, Yala Korwin, and Claudio Parentela. Also, feel free to read and/or post threads in our forum.

It's been a full 2003. I look forward to the new year and wish each of you a powerful, blessed, and inspired holiday season.

Thank you for your support and interest. These three years have been a tremendous gift!

                                       All my best,

                                       John Amen
