Sonia Pereira - On Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth
Thick as catacomb,
                                                                    waiting for the stars
like keys in an oily heaven,
                                                                    festivals of electricity.

                                                                    With a wild mouth
                                                                    she twists the cage, gives
                                                                    the birth. Watch it gallop
into the theatre's pinching arms!

This is what the people come for.
                                                                    To swim in the golden
                                                                    knives she bullies
like a hollow
                                                                    in your chest.

                                                                    A curling of your finger.

                                                                    An erection of bones.
