Nikki Giovanni is the author of numerous books of poetry and prose, including Black Feeling Black Talk/Black Judgement, Re: Creation, My House, The Women and the Men, Cotton Candy On A Rainy Day, Those Who Ride the Night Winds, Sacred Cows ... and Other Edibles, and Racism 101. In addition, she has edited several anthologies, including Night Comes Softly: An Anthology of Black Female Voices; and published seven children's books, including Spin a Soft Black Song and The Geni in the Jar. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a Ford Foundation Fellowship, a Harlem Council of the Arts grant, a "Highest Achievement Award" from Mademoiselle, the Cincinnati Post's Post-Corbett Award, the Ohioana Library Award, and The Nashville Banner's Tennessee Writer's Award. She has received Honorary Doctorates from several universities, including Widener University, Wilberforce University, and Cabrini College.
