Life on Mars
the best of it
is only an abundance of nothing.
So we took core samples
from middle-earth
to make beds for trees in the sky.

At the tryst of failure
we watched the shadow of Sirius
shatter the glass of human innocence
and dismember the limbs of time.
We watched the native guard
inseminate an elephant
and make love to his late wife.
Still watching the spring festival
of delights and shadows
there at Martha’s Vineyard,
we found out what love comes to.
Who would have thought
that moy sand and gravel
were the makeup of practical gods?
They say each one lives for different hours.

At the republic of poetry,
we encountered a blizzard of one.
Dean played an elegy on toy piano
and from the black zodiac
sprouted an orchard;
O! The dream of the unified field,
American sublime.
But eye-shots don’t tell the simple truth,
so we learnt to speak the neon-vernacular.

In the before life,
they say we were wild irises,
thank goodness for near changes,
the metamorphosis of the wild.
The world doesn’t end,
thus never give partial accounts
till you have heard from the other lover.
O! That I understood the mystery of small houses.

Blessed are they who can see
their full self-portrait
in a convex mirror,
the transparent man too
is made of flesh and blood;
eats bread and drinks wine.
Saints and strangers make promises,
not of things of this world,
but of the waking and dream flights.

Preach
strange holiness:
salvation for flowering stones.
Grace:
feed slaves on meat
and sons on cornhusks.
Faith:
these new believers
must take the old road to Paradise.
