I have put this little poem up before - wrote it in 95, I think. But today, having rustled some of my old text out, I found the original version I had written - thought I'd share it:

Let he who loves me
love me as a free soul
Let him cherish my heart
without bond

Should he who loves me
go astray
then let me give him
the Whole Universe
in which to fly

Very touching, it reminds me of the saying it is better to have loved and lost then not to have loved at all.

Yeah, like you would be so generous with a fleeing love. The last stanza should read:

Should he who loves me
go astray
I would track and hunt
his sorry ass down
till my dying day.

Ha Ha... I don't feel like being serious today. So there.

Carly, can feel passionate raw inspiration. Don't know if that is on target?? Thanks for sharing, Beth

Greg, you're such a funny one.

Actually my poem doesn't work then - because what I'm trying to say is if you want your lover to allow you a free hand - to do what you want - then you must allow your lover the same privilege.
