Twelfth Issue October 21-December 21, 2002
It's hard to believe it's fall again-- cool mornings, shorter days, cold nights spent ... I won't go there. It really is frightening how quickly the days pass, though. It was just spring--I was wanting to plant tomatoes (never got around to it)--and now it's October! Ah, it really is a dream within a dream within a dream ....
Speaking of October, I'm glad to introduce the October/November issue of The Pedestal Magazine. Our featured writer for this issue is Maxine Kumin. Included are five early poems, pieces that will later appear in her book, Bringing Together: Uncollected Early Poems 1958-1988 (due out in June 2003 from Norton). Also included is an interview with Maxine Kumin, conducted by Janet Buck. Our featured artists this time around are Kelly Billette and Shelley Eichholz.
In addition, I'm glad to present poetry by Wesley Biddy, Sheila Black, Corrine De Winter, Charles Fishman, Michelle Gibson, Barbara Hendryson, Jnana Hodson, Michael Leary, Steve Mueske, Brandy Sejeck, Susan Wheeler, and Richard C. Williams; fiction by Michele Battiste; and an essay by Richard Simonelli.
I hope you enjoy this issue. Also, new in The Pedestal gallery are works by Carolyn Adams. Our forum continues to be extremely active, due to the expert hosting of Ms. Carly Svamvour. Feel free to participate in the daily "dialogues," as well as weekly and monthly writing challenges. Our bookstore is continuing to expand. Check out the listings of our many contributors, perhaps purchase a book!
Thank you for your ongoing support. We are almost at our two-year anniversary. Our readership continues to grow on a monthly basis. It is exciting to be involved in such a venture as this, to know that The Pedestal Magazine is being read and appreciated by people all over the world.
Thank you again, and enjoy ....
Best,
John Amen Editor in chief
