December 21, 2002: With Maxine Kumin, Sharon Olds, and Other Acclaimed Writers, The Pedestal Magazine.com Stands Out in Electronic Publishing

Charlotte, NC - Maxine Kumin, Sharon Olds and Thomas Lux are among the many prominent writers that have been featured in The Pedestal Magazine.com during the past two years. "These writers and others have aided The Pedestal Magazine.com in reaching toward our vision of raising the bar in electronic publishing," stated chief editor and founder John Amen.

The December 21 anniversary issue will feature a short story by and in-depth interview with Stuart Dybek. Also included in the magazine are fiction writers Danny Blexford and Rachel Dacus, non-fiction writer Ellin Ronee Pollachek, and numerous poets.  Art includes works by featured London artist Sharon Gee, as well as photographers Jason Beam and Simon Schild, and artist Gina Marincik.

The Pedestal Magazine.com is proud to present the short story I Sailed With Magellan by featured writer Stuart Dybek, author of two short story collections, The Coast of Chicago and Childhood and other Neighborhoods, and a collection of poetry, Brass Knuckles. His poetry and fiction have appeared in numerous magazines including The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Harper's, and Ploughshares. He has received the 1998 Lannan Award, the 1995 PEN/Bernard Malamud Prize, the Academy Institute Award in Fiction from the Academy of Arts and Letters in 1994, four O. Henry Prizes, and the Whiting Writers Award in 1984. He teaches at Western Michigan University and is a permanent member of the faculty of the Prague Summer Writers Workshop.

The Pedestal Magazine.com is also proud to feature London artist Sharon Gee.  Ms. Gee’s works have been exhibited in numerous galleries, both in Europe and the United States.  Her work is also included in many private collections, including that of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.  She has won several awards for her work and is a patron of "Young Masters of Arts," an international arts project aimed at promoting youth excellence in music and visual arts.  Ms. Gee lives and works in London, England.
